Own Family Portrait

This photo was actually taken 3 years ago while celebrating my mom's 70th birthday. All my siblings came back for the ocassion. Initially i wanted to get it done by the portrait studio so that i do need to work on the day. So I call them up and discuss with them. However, they mention that the studio background paper is not wide enough for such a big group and they need to do editing and blah blah blah........and in the end they wanted to charge me RM1300 for the shoot and a 24" x36" enlargement. I don't mind paying for it since the cost will be share among us. While discussing with the siblings, they question why go to take the family portrait while the family members is not complete. As some of you might know, my son is staying with my in-law in Johor. He will be left out in the picture and make it less meaningful.
They suggested that since i've learn a bit of digital editing at that time, why don't i try to do it. At least i have a chance to superimpose my son into the photo later. After a brief discussing, i decided to do it but with the condition everyone must help out in the set up of the temporary home studio. It's quite simple actually. All you need is just to plan the position and make space for 1 more extra person. In my case, i actually pretend i'm carrying my son and make space accordingly. What i need to do later is to capture a photo of my son back in Johor using similar light setting as the family portrait so that he will blend in nicely.
This is how the original photo look like.
